“True love at first sight,” is how Sabine Quéré describes her first encounter with Tahitian pearls. This encounter changed the course of this young woman’s life. Originally from Brittany, Sabine arrived in Tahiti towards the end of the 1990s. She worked in a jewelry store for four years where she discovered the world of the Tahitian pearl. She launched her new calling and discovered the art of sorting and pairing, which is a key skill that consists of regrouping the pearls according to their characteristics. She excelled at this operation and discovered that she had an eye for pearls. In fact, it is quite a science once you find yourself faced with 5,000 pearls and you need to know which ones are the best quality and which ones go together. For the past five years, Sabine has had her boutique in Moorea, Sab Perles de Tahiti. She creates her designs with a strong vision—to be able to offer pearls of the rarest colors available, “those that can impress even the finest connoisseurs,” she adds. This strengthens customer loyalty, which is quite an obsession that drives her relationships with the pearl farmers and sellers she does business with. She is determined to share the great diversity of pearls and to open customers’ minds through guiding them to make unique choices.
