Hitireva au marae Arahurahu : E PARAUPARAU TE ÖFAÌ
7 July - 4 August
The month of July is filled with cultural events which provide locals and tourists alike the opportunity to see singing and dance groups perform on the To’ata stage during Heiva i Tahiti. However, there is another gathering that is equally important and prestigious that is held on the Arahurahu Marae in Paea, an ancient place of worship for Polynesian ancestors. This year, Hitireva performance troupe, winner of the 2016 Heiva i Tahiti under the direction of choreographer and artistic director Kehaulany Changuy, will present its new show E PARAUPARAU TE ŌFAÌ. This spectacle was written by Jacky Bryant, singing was composed by Teha Kaimuko and Jean-Marc Zinguerlet, whereas Teme Paraurahi created the percussion. Wishing to convey a message of reflection over ancestral knowledge left by our tupuna, Kehaulany Changuy will make us think about hese fundamental questions inherited from the ancients and what we are left with today. More than 121 artists will perform: dancers, singers, musicians, actors and ra’atira. We invite you to come appreciate a unique interpretation of very strong values rooted in identity that are passed down through generations.
